Sonny Bono Refuge Wildlife Photo Workshop 2019 January 31-class February 8-10-trip
Come join me for a wonderful 3 day adventure in an incredibly diverse area in California.
The Sonny Bono Salton Sea NWR is geographically located within the southwestern edge of the Colorado zone of the Sonoran Desert biome. This location, coupled with an elevation of 227 feet below sea level, results in extremely low annual precipitation and extremely high day time temperatures. Despite the harsh environmental conditions, the Salton Sea supports one of the most diverse avian compositions in the United States as well as a host of endangered and other wildlife species.
In this 3-day course, come learn, see and explore these beautiful creatures as we take you to the highest populated areas of wildlife for you to photograph.
Over 400 bird species have been recorded at the Refuge and at least 93 species have nested on the Refuge. In addition, 41 species of mammals, 18 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians and 15 species of fish have been identified in the area.
You will learn:
How to choose the correct shutter speed and aperture to get in focus images of Birds
Understand Bird Behaviors that will assist in making more interesting and dramatic Images, and knowing when to push the shutter button!
How to improve exposures so that your images have detail and clarity and not blown out whites!
Choosing the correct equipment for Bird Photography to be successful and making the right investment to create beautiful bird and wildlife images
You will have hands on suggestions out in the field on how to improve composition, exposure and techniques! Class is being offered through the California Center for Digital Arts:

Announcing Kenya, August 4-16th, 2019 3 spots left
I have shared that my original trip to Kenya was LIFE CHANGING. It is an almost spiritual experience to see the animals that I read about in books and saw on the pages of National Geographic...Not in a zoo, but actually on the plains of the Masai Mara or up in the more northern parts of Kenya. To actually see the lions, zebras, hippos, monkeys, rhinos, flamingos and, oh so many more, in their natural environment was so moving that it brought tears to my eyes. To see and smell the rich fertile soil of the Rift Valley took me to a primal place...somehow recognizing how precious and beautiful this world is.
So to now be able to share an incredible trip to Kenya in 2019 is almost beyond words. A lot of time, thought and care has been put into this trip. I wanted it to be affordable but offer an amazing, comfortable experience of this country. We will have 11 nights in Kenya and visit Lake Nakuru and the Mara and Samburu. It has been designed to stay the first 2 nights in Nairobi to get acclimated after the long trip, but will include some special visits including the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Karen Blixen estate. We have nearly 2 safari game drives each day of the safari part of the trip, and our vehicles are designed for us...to have a maximum of 4 people in each vehicle, with a maximum of 12 people! The price is inclusive of nearly everything, including your airfare from Los Angeles for $7869, from August 4-August 16th. This is AN ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME... I hope that you will consider joining me. Connect to the specific information and sign up through this link:
